OUR STORY
ROOST is David & Ruth. Originally both from Lincolnshire, we met in 2004, sharing a love of coffee. We married in Rome 2007 and both had previous careers before moving to North Yorkshire to work together. Now with 12 years’ experience in the speciality coffee industry, from scratch we have built up and run a speciality coffee shop and since 2015 created ROOST Coffee & Roastery.
Our family business is a huge part of our life. Our children have grown up in our coffee world. Betsy, 8 grew up in the roastery. Erin, 16 a budding barista. We love that the Rocket Espresso machine manual states ‘not to be used by anyone under the age of 12 years’.
Out of work we love to walk Skye our Goldendoodle on the North Yorkshire coast, travel as best we can and spend time with our children. Ruth loves running and David still plays football and supports Lincoln City FC. But mostly we love coffee.
ROOST has now grown to have a staff team of seven. Gemma the Espresso Bar and shop manager has been with ROOST now for over 2 years and has brought a superb passion for all things coffee to the company. Gemma also heads our barista training. Tony is new to the team and manages orders and logistics, and is keenly learning the art of coffee roasting. We also have three other great baristas.
